Along with the rise of Web 2.0, using search engine to find information has become an everyday practice. Being a mechanism of mass writing, search engine is filled with official websites, business websites and personal blogs. The preference of more updating information and more hit rates in its page ranking results in frequent displacement of web pages. Professional websites in such a competitive space lose their superiority over blogs. While people can actively select texts of news events from the search engine, the historical accounts for these events will be different by nature. What are we going to find through search engine? What difference of active search from the traditional way of data collecting? All these are key issues of this research. This study attempts to explore the historical accounts of search engine by dimensions of time and space. Four cases of Internet news events are selected for analysis with multiple searches via Google. For the temporal dimension, the research will tell the case stories with texts in chronic order. Text space and discourse space are adopted for story telling of spatial dimension. The impacts of search engine page ranking on historical review of events will then be discussed by analysis of temporality and spatiality, and by comparison of differences among cases and between different timing for searching.
