People in the workplace often experience different types of emotions when facing the challenges at work or interacting with others. Therefore, emotion can be an important part in the organizational life. The present integrated project examines emotion issues in the contexts of service workplace, employment, and work areas. These components of work emotions include state affect, trait affect, emotional intelligence, emotion labor, affective displays, and group emotional norms. The main purpose of this three-year integrated project is to deeply understand the roles of work emotions in various work contexts. In addition, social psychologists have proposed that the attribution theory is applicable to the emotion research. As a result, one purpose of the integrated project focuses on the interaction processes between actors and recipients, exploring an appraisal of causes for external evens or actors’characteristics (e.g., customer behaviors, subordinate affect, etc.), and how the cognitive psychological process of recipients (first-line service employee, interviewer, and supervisor) influence recipient’sresponses from the attribution theory perspective. In addition, the second purpose of the integrated project focuses on investigating how the two parties in different relationships and power holders influence each other during their interaction processes. To sum up, we expect that the three-year integrated project can make the following contributions: (1) combine the OB and HR research areas; (2) extend the research scope of work emotion; (3) encourage more interactions between scholars and students through regular discussions and meetings; (4) promote the applications of findings of emotion research; and (5) enhance the exposure of Taiwan emotion research group to the international research community.
