    Abstract: 2005年的海棠颱風以及2009年莫拉克颱風重創台灣,在台東太麻里溪流域造成了莫大的災害。兩次受災戶的永久安置問題以及災後的心理創傷至今仍持續在解決當中。為瞭解災區現況及災民之需求及心聲,迫切需要瞭解災區原住民之心理需求,本研究計劃以兩年時間,對太麻里溪流域原住民族部落遭遇兩次風災,受災最為嚴重的嘉蘭部落進行傳統信仰習俗與當代宗教實踐之調查。從文化社會人類學的觀點提供研究成果,以期對於不同民族之宗教觀及面對災難之適應力能有所理解,減低族群之間的文化隔閡,提供今後東部地區原住民族的防災認知及災後重建政策的論述依據。研究之進程,從原住民族的傳統知識體系之在地觀點出發,瞭解原住民族的口傳歷史脈絡中,與生存環境之互動、對天然災害的認知與應對;探討當代的宗教實踐及面對災難之適應力,建立民族誌資料。主要研究內容,第一年:1.兩次風災災後之重建狀況及居民適應力之比較研究,探討傳統文化與當代的信仰型態對於災難發生時的作用,以及對族群關係的作用。2.原住民族的傳統宗教習俗及當代宗教信仰之實踐。第二年: 1.原住民族的災難認知與歷史記憶書寫,建立災害民族誌。3.對災害防治及重建策略之提出建議並發表研究成果。
    Typhoon Haitang in 2005 and Typhoon Morakot in 2009 damaged Taiwan severely, and have caused serious disasters for villages in the watershed of Taimali River, Taitung. The issue of building permanent settlements for the damaged households, and the issue of healing post-disaster trauma of the afflicted people, are still in the process of resolving. In order to understand the present-day situation of the damaged area, and the need of afflicted people, we have to understand the psychological need of the indigenous people living in the damaged area. This research plan, for two-years term, aims to study the traditional belief and customs and contemporary religious practices of Chia-lan Village, the most damaged village in the watershed of Taimali River during these two typhoons. This research will be conducted from the perspective of social and cultural anthropology, and the purpose is to understand the religious conceptions of different ethnic groups and their adaption to disasters. This research will contribute to the reduction of cultural distance between ethnic groups, and the research result can provide a discourse basis of disaster-prevention knowledge and policy of reconstruction for indigenous people in Eastern Taiwan. The research procedure is as follows: the researcher will start from the native point of view of indigenous traditional knowledge system, then move to the context of oral histories of indigenous people, in order to understand their interactions with living environment, and their cognition and reaction to natural disasters. Then the researcher will attempt to explore their contemporary religious practices and collect ethnographies of their adaption to disasters. The main research content is as follows: In the first year: 1. The comparative study of reconstruction and adaption of inhabitants after two typhoons, discussing the functions of traditional culture and contemporary religion for disasters, as well as for ethnic relations. 2. Traditional religious customs and contemporary religious practices of indigenous peoples. In the second year: 1. The study of disaster-cognition and writing of historical memories of indigenous peoples. To write ethnography of disasters. 2. To propose advices for disaster-prevention and reconstruction policy, and publish research results.
