Abstract:	英國近代最傑出的鄉土小說家、詩人。其作品之所以叫座，在於他能將家鄉地區人們之語言、習俗和生活方式，做深刻又生動的處理。哈氏最膾炙人口的作品是「黛絲姑娘」，長篇小說尚有「返鄉」、「號兵長」、「無名的裘德」、「林地居民」等。詩作亦很豐富，出版有「韋塞克斯詩集」、「今昔詩集」、「時光的笑柄」。
