Abstract: This thesis has to do with the investment environment and opportunities that Taiwanese businesspeople can find in Nicaragua. This Central American country located between Costa Rica and Honduras; has ample advantages, such as plentiful natural resources, cheap labor, investment incentives and legal protection for foreign investors that can be developed for profit.
The objective of this study is to track the history of the diplomatic and economic relationships between Taiwan and Nicaragua. Against this backdrop, an introduction to the investment climate and incentives in Nicaragua will be featured as a guide for future investors.
Finally, a case study of the textile industry developed by Taiwanese in Nicaragua will be introduced in order to provide a real-life example and practical information on how to succeed in Nicaragua.
In conclusion, a SWOT analysis will enable potential Taiwanese investors to see how to take advantage of the possibilities available in the host country, such as its participation in international organizations, or future deals such as free trade agreements with the US and Taiwan, in order to gain profit and gain a privileged access into those economic areas which are currently difficult to reach for the Republic of China (Taiwan).
