Since the end of the Franco dictatorship, the Second Wave has initiated issues of equal rights for men and women, and there was a boom in creative writing among female authors in Spain. Rosa Montero (1951~) belongs to the generation of female writers that came to prominence in the late 1970s and is also considered a beloved writer by critics and readers. Her work contains a taste of good literature which borrows from the voices of characters of present day to study Spain`s social and cultural transformations. La hija del canibal, the seventh novel by Rosa Montero, is a realist novel that maintains a thematic feminism like Montero`s previous narratives do and incorporates diverse elements of popular culture. Narrated in the first and the third person, the entire story originates from a husband s mysterious disappearance and kidnapping. Through the use of detective genre women`s autobiography. Montero attempts to show us how the female protagonist, who is also the narrator of the story, searches for self-realiation.The present essay aims to analyze how detective genre and women`s autobiographical narrative can be used as a pretext for women`s self- realization, and how the writer intends to redefine gender boundaries in order to represent women`s identities and reconstruct a female discourse.
