    Abstract:   隨著後疫情時代來臨及全球華語學習需求持續發展,赴外任教已成為華語教師拓展職涯與累積教學經驗的重要途徑;然而異文化環境中的語言、生活與文化差異,以及工作與課室環境的不同,都讓赴外華語教師面臨了諸多挑戰,不僅涉及外在環境適應,更關乎內在心理調適與身分定位。如何在赴外任教期間發展專業、確立角色並規劃職涯,遂成為重要課題。
      本研究以三位赴外華語教師為研究對象,透過個案研究與深度訪談,探討其生涯規劃與發展之歷程。研究內容涵蓋他們赴外前的準備與考量、任教期間在教學、文化適應與生活層面的挑戰及因應策略,並檢視影響其跨文化知能發展的因素。同時,本研究亦關注赴外教學經驗如何作用於教師的職涯反思與後續發展,並整合有助於赴外華語教師職前準備與生涯規劃的相關措施。
      研究結果顯示,赴外華語教師的生涯發展並非線性,而是受到個人動機、專業背景、家庭因素與外在環境等交互影響;雖然他們的海外經驗中不乏挑戰,但仍可透過不同的適應策略,增強跨文化能力並建構自我認同。整體而言,赴外華語教學工作雖具不確定性,卻對個人生涯規劃與專業成長有深遠影響。綜合研究發現,建議華語師資培育機構於課程設計中強化實務取向與跨文化能力養成,教育政策制定者則能完善海外支持系統,以協助赴外華語教師降低適應壓力並拓展其職涯發展。盼此研究能為有志赴外任教的華語教師提供參考,亦可作為相關單位制定課程或政策的依據,進一步推動臺灣華語教育在國際上的深耕與影響力。
    In the wake of the post-pandemic era and the sustained global growth in Mandarin Chinese learning, teaching abroad has become an important avenue for Mandarin Chinese teachers to expand their careers and accumulate teaching experience. However, language, cultural, and lifestyle differences in intercultural contexts, as well as variations in workplace and classroom settings, have posed numerous challenges for overseas Mandarin Chinese teachers. These challenges not only involve external adaptation but also internal psychological adjustment and identity negotiation. Thus, how to develop professional competence, establish teaching roles, and plan career trajectories during overseas postings has become a critical issue.
    This study focuses on three Mandarin Chinese teachers teaching overseas, employing case studies and in-depth interviews to explore their career planning and development journeys. The research examines their preparations and considerations prior to departure, the challenges they encountered in teaching, cultural adaptation, and daily life during their stay abroad, as well as the coping strategies they adopted. It further investigates factors influencing the development of their intercultural competence and considers how overseas teaching experiences contribute to career reflection and future development, while integrating measures to assist Mandarin Chinese teachers in pre-departure preparation and career planning.
    Research findings reveal that the career development of overseas Mandarin Chinese teachers is not linear but shaped by the interplay of personal motivations, professional backgrounds, family considerations, and external environments. Although challenges are prevalent in their overseas experiences, through diverse coping strategies, they can enhance intercultural competence and construct self-identity. Overall, while overseas Mandarin Chinese teaching entails considerable uncertainty, it exerts profound influences on teachers’ career planning and professional growth.
    Based on these findings, this study suggests that Mandarin Chinese teacher training institutions strengthen the practical orientation and cross-cultural competence development in curriculum design, while policymakers establish more comprehensive overseas support systems to alleviate overseas teachers’ adaptation pressures and broaden their career development opportunities. It is hoped that this study will provide practical references for prospective overseas Mandarin Chinese teachers and serve as valuable guidance for educational institutions and policymakers, thereby advancing the sustainable development and global influence of Taiwan’s Mandarin education.
