| Abstract: | 本研究探討1945年至1972年間美國與中華人民共和國（中共）之間的戰略互動，旨在分析冷戰背景下雙方關係從對抗轉向合作的驅動因素，並探討其對當代國際關係的啟示。研究採用歷史分析法、比較研究法及國際關係理論應用，結合現實主義與建構主義視角，聚焦於權力平衡、安全困境及意識形態的影響。
研究發現，中美關係的演變深受國際體系結構與國家利益的制約。1945至1953年間，冷戰初期意識形態對立與地緣政治競爭導致韓戰爆發，中美直接軍事衝突；1954至1969年，臺海危機與越戰加劇安全困境，雙方持續對峙；1970至1972年，中蘇分裂與越戰泥沼促使中美基於共同利益尋求和解，尼克森訪華標誌著雙邊關係的歷史性轉折。
本研究強調，國際體系的無政府狀態與權力分配是塑造中美戰略互動的結構性因素，而意識形態與領導人決策則在特定情境下發揮調節作用。研究結果不僅豐富了對冷戰史的理解，亦為當前中美競爭與大國關係研究提供歷史借鑒與政策啟示。
This study examines the strategic interactions between the United States and the People's Republic of China (PRC) from 1945 to 1972, aiming to analyze the driving factors behind the shift from confrontation to cooperation in their relationship during the Cold War and to explore its implications for contemporary international relations. The research employs historical analysis, comparative research, and the application of international relations theories, integrating realist and constructivist perspectives, with a focus on the impact of power balance, security dilemmas, and ideology.
The findings reveal that the evolution of US-China relations was profoundly constrained by the structure of the international system and national interests. From 1945 to 1953, ideological opposition and geopolitical competition in the early Cold War led to the outbreak of the Korean War, resulting in direct military conflict between the US and China. From 1954 to 1969, the Taiwan Strait crises and the Vietnam War intensified the security dilemma, perpetuating a state of confrontation. From 1970 to 1972, the Sino-Soviet split and the quagmire of the Vietnam War drove both nations to seek reconciliation based on shared interests, with Nixon's visit to China marking a historic turning point in bilateral relations.
This study underscores that the anarchic nature of the international system and the distribution of power are structural factors shaping US-China strategic interactions, while ideology and leadership decisions play a moderating role in specific contexts. The results not only enrich the understanding of Cold War history but also provide historical lessons and policy insights for current US-China competition and great power relations. |
