This proposal aims to point out that contemporary sociologists prefer to overturn the perspective of social structure with that of individual action, discovering in consequence the challenges of daily life poses toward functional systems. However, they plunge deeper into the supremacy of human action which is a typical modernist bias. Since the 1980s, this post-Parsonian symptom has taken over the sociological study of intimacy by allowing the theoretical sociology of action and the empirical sociology of love enter into a collusive relation. This proposal will first argue that scholars of second modernity acknowledge social action of reflexive love, and then clarify that Luhmann’s reflexive love has a unique significance of stressing non-linguisitc communication. In the end, we will return to Parson’s reflection on the religious order of love. We will design a tripartite analytic of life politics and biopolitics based on the liniguistic, bodily and affective conception of man.
