This research investigates the dynamic transformation process of corporate sustainability, using a single case study method and participatory research approach to analyze a twenty-year corporate sustainability transformation journey of an international brand computer company.
The research findings reveal that the case company's sustainability strategy underwent four stages of transformation: internalization of sustainability pressures, institutionalization of sustainability internally, strategization of sustainability systems, and expansion of sustainability impact. These stages clearly demonstrate that corporate sustainability strategies are not predetermined and static decisions, but rather exist as a dynamic adjustment process. The research also identifies five key elements for successful sustainability transformation: top management commitment and strategic positioning, systematic management mechanisms, integrated implementation plans, innovation-driven development thinking, and dynamic balanced management wisdom.
This research proposes an innovative perspective of sustainability parameterization, indicating that excellent companies' sustainability strategies should incorporate sustainability as one of the key parameters in product development and operational decisions, rather than viewing it as overriding all parameters. These findings not only enrich the theoretical framework of corporate sustainability but also provide practical guidance for companies promoting sustainability transformation, helping them transform sustainability goals into differentiated competitive advantages.
