This study aimed to identify effective parenting strategies of involvement and conflict solutions, gender, and family socioeconomic status (SES) in predicting adolescent mathematics achievement growth, a model built based on ecological theories. Longitudinal data (n = 4,163) were obtained from the Taiwan Education Panel Survey and analyzed by latent growth curve modeling. The analysis results will identify effective mothers’ and fathers’ parenting strategies (e.g. actively resolving conflicts, listening to adolescent thoughts and monitoring adolescent learning) for early and later adolescent mathematics achievement development. Diverse family SES indicators (e.g. home official language use and parental education) and gender differences may also play roles in the early and later growth of mathematics achievement.
