The topic of this collection project on religious studies, entitled “The Glocalization of Traditional and New Religions in East and Southeast Asia,” focuses on the studies of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism in modern East Asia and Southeast Asia. Besides investigating revival and reform movements in traditional religions, it is important to take up new religions for their significance regarding the process of modernization and glocalization. This project will also collect the studies of new religious movements in Taiwan, mainland China, Japan and Korea. When a full collection of proposed books and journals is completed, it will enable National Chengchi University to become an important academic resource center on the topic related to religious culture. It will also facilitate other institutes of religious studies in Taiwan in their teaching and research activities. The collection of publications dovetails with the teaching and research aims of the Graduate Institute of Religious Studies, National Chengchi University. It also matches well with the Institute’s faculty specialties and the University’s developmental priorities. The University library has agreed to open its new resources for public accessibility. The University is also committed to providing administrative assistance and computer facilities to complete the whole project.
