    Abstract: 本研究探討了兩組表達方式:[副詞 + interesting] 和單獨使用的詞彙 interesting,作為口語對話中的回應詞及其他相關語用功能。除此之外,本研究旨在為臺灣的八年級學生提供教學應用建議,以增強其對語用的理解。透過語料庫語言學的方法,本研究系統性地分析來自當代美國英語語料庫(COCA)的口語數據,提取真實的實際語境中的例子,經過人工分析並識別了四種不同類型的表達方式:應答詞(Backchannel)、話題延伸(Topic Elaborating)、對話結束(Conversation Closing)和話題轉換(Topic Shifting),每種表達方式展示了不同的口語對話動態策略。這些研究發現為補充臺灣英語教科書提供了英語語用的教學建議,並為語用和教育實踐提供了有價值的見解。希望本研究能彌補臺灣英語教學環境在教授單字時的不足。
    This study investigates the various functions of two sets of expressions: [adverb + interesting] and the standalone word interesting, as response tokens in oral conversation. Additionally, the aim is to provide a customized teaching implication for eighth graders in Taiwan to enhance their understanding of pragmatics. Using corpus linguistics, the study systematically analyzes a dataset of spoken genre data from the Corpus of Contemporary American English (COCA) to extract authentic, real-world occurrences. The analysis identifies four distinct types of expressions: Backchannel, Topic Elaborating, Conversation Closing, and Topic Shifting, each illustrates different strategies in conversational dynamics. These findings provide a foundation for providing an English implication that complements Taiwan’s English textbooks, offering valuable insights into pragmatic aspects and educational practices. It is hoped that this study will complement the insufficiency in English teaching settings in Taiwan.
