    Title: 從「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務 內容探索資訊組織人員之資訊需求

    Abstract: 資訊組織人員在編目工作上遇到困難而形成資訊需求,其中,「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務便是國內的資訊組織人員解決編目問題所使用之服務。此「國家圖書館編目園地」是由國家圖書館所建置,其目的是倡導編目學之研究,亦能使資訊組織人員針對編目實務問題解疑釋惑。

    本研究以「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務為研究對象,分析其提問內容以探討資訊組織人員的資訊需求。本研究採用內容分析法,分析「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務從2010年至2023年6月以來共2,512筆提問內容;並輔以深度訪談法,訪談公共圖書館及大學圖書館編目館員,藉此瞭解編目館員在編目實務上所遇的困難,以及其使用「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務的實際情況,本研究發現如下:
    一、「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務平臺中的資訊組織人員提問情形
    (一)資訊組織人員的提問分類以「分類法」、「編目法」、「機讀編目格式」為主。
    (二)資訊組織人員的提問以「中文圖書分類法」(包含中國圖書分類法)、「中國編目規則」及MARC21為主。
    (三)近年的提問趨勢以中文主題詞表為主;越來越多提問歸類於其它問題。
    (四)資訊組織人員的提問類型以「快速查檢問題」最多。
    二、「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務平臺中的專業館員答覆情形
    (一)專業館員對資訊組織人員的提問幾乎都能給予較為完整的解答。
    (二)專業館員答覆利用其他參考管道的情況,超過半數以上都有提供「指引」、「範例」及「聯絡管道」。
    三、「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務的使用情形
    (一)經常使用「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務,此外更有使用 電話直接聯絡國家圖書館館員。
    (二)「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務的使用優點是具有方便性與權威性;其不方便之處為答覆缺乏立即性以及網站使用上困難。
    四、資訊組織人員的資訊需求情形
    (一)新到職編目館員的教育訓練仰賴資深館員的教學。
    (二)資訊組織人員的資訊需求以題名及著者、分類和標題法的相關做法為主。
    最後再依據「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務的分析結果,以及訪談過程中編目館員的建議,提出對於「國家圖書館編目園地」資訊組織諮詢服務、資訊組織人員及後續研究的建議。
    Cataloguers encounter difficulties in cataloging work, leading to information needs. Among the services available, the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service is utilized by cataloguers in Taiwan to resolve cataloging issues. This "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" was established by the National Library with the aim of promoting research in cataloging and helping cataloguers clarify practical cataloging problems.

    This study focuses on the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service, analyzing the content of queries to explore the information needs of cataloguers. Using content analysis, this study examines a total of 2,512 queries submitted to the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service from 2010 to June 2023. In addition, in-depth interviews were conducted with cataloging librarians from public and university libraries to understand the practical difficulties they face in cataloging and their actual use of the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service. The findings of this study are as follows:

    1. The querying situation of cataloguers on the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service platform: (1) The main categories of queries from information organization personnel are "classification," "cataloging rules," and "MARC formats." (2) The primary focus of queries from cataloguers is on the "New Classification Scheme for Chinese Libraries," "Chinese Cataloging Rules," and MARC21. (3) Recent query trends focus on the "List of Chinese Subject Terms" an increasing number of queries are classified as other issues. (4) The most common type of query from information organization personnel is "quick reference questions."

    2. The response situation of professional librarians on the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service platform: (1) Professional librarians are almost always able to provide comprehensive answers to the queries from information organization personnel. (2) More than half of the responses from professional librarians include "guidance," "examples," and "contact information" using other reference channels.

    3. The usage situation of the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service: (1) The "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service is frequently used, with additional contact being made directly with National Library staff via phone. (2) The advantages of using the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service are convenience and authority; the disadvantages include a lack of immediacy in responses and difficulties in using the website.

    4. The information needs situation of cataloguers: (1) Training for newly hired cataloging librarians relies on the teaching of senior librarians. (2) The information needs of cataloguers are mainly related to title and author, classification, and subject headings practices.
    Finally, based on the analysis results of the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service and the suggestions from cataloging librarians during the interview process, recommendations are provided for the "National Central Library Cataloging Forum" information organization consultation service, cataloguers, and future research.
