Many medical services do not achieve health improvement solely through the immediate diagnosis and treatment by physicians or other healthcare professionals. Instead, they require patient cooperation outside of the treatment period, such as diet control and timely medication. The same applies to physical therapy. Besides passively avoiding actions or habits that cause physical issues, actively engaging in corrective exercises significantly aids in body recovery.
However, due to inertia, lack of regularity, and proper guidance, the adherence rate to physical therapists' prescriptions is not high, embodying the adage "easier said than done." Consequently, patients’ number of visits increases, affecting the efficiency of medical resource utilization and raising patients' medical costs.
This study takes physical therapy as an example to evaluate the business model of using digital tools to assist patients in performing correct and effective exercise therapy after diagnosis. It includes the current application and the feasible approach using advanced technologies (such as AI technology) in the future. The case study focuses on AI Care Physical Therapy Clinic and its developed Youdon APP. Using the Business Model Canvas, the study analyzes its operating model and investigates patients' usage status, effectiveness, suggestions, and willingness to use through questionnaires and data analysis. The study found that the Youdon APP indeed helps improve patients' compliance with exercise therapy. It is expected that through enhancing APP functions and more effective education promotion, better outcomes can be achieved in the future. Additionally, this study hopes to provide concrete contributions to the promotion of digital healthcare.
