This study examines the potential positive impact of the female employee ratio and company size on the female directors ratio, and further examines whether family businesses moderates the aforementioned positive relationships. The sample for this study is drawn from the TEJ Taiwan Economic Journal database for the years 2021 to 2022, with a total of 1,769 valid samples (family businesses N=1,106, non-family businesses N=663). Results of multiple regression analysis showed that the female employees ratio is positive related to female directors ratio, while company size is negative related to the female directors ratio. Furthermore, the type of corporate control moderated the negative relationship between company size and female directors ratio such that the negative relationship only existed in family businesses. The theoretical and practical implications of this study are discussed, along with the limitations and suggestions for future research.
