Emotions, Reasons and Events are the three important content elements of Classical Chinese Poetry. The first two have been fully discussed in the traditional poetics, and scholars have exploited extensive theoretical connotations on Emotions in the light of the study of contemporary Taiwan's Lyric Aesthetics. However, how can we confront the concept Events in the field of classical poetics? In other words, how to face the element of Events in classical poetry as well as the writing mode and aesthetic purport brought by it? To answer this question, scholars in Taiwan have found that the term Shishi represents the thinking of ancient and modern scholars on Events or Narratives of classical poetry. Based on the interaction between Poetry and History, as well as solid literature research and theoretical interpretation, they discussed the formation and derivations of the connotation of Shishi, such as Source Materials, Metaphor and Allegory, Discussions on the Nature of Man and the World, the Style of Spring and Autumn Annals, and Mutual Proof of Poetry and History. Taiwan scholars’ pioneering analyses and reflections have deeply promoted the research of Shishi.
