This study will employ secondary data analysis to examine survey data sets from 1991 to 2015 intending to explore continuity and change of political socialization among college students in Taiwan systematically. There are three phases for this project. We will focus on the agents of political socialization, such as family, school, and critical even, to see their effects on students’ political orientations in the first year. During the second year, we will examine three major variables, i.e. party identification, Taiwan independence preference, and Taiwan identity, to see how college students acquire these three major political orientations during their impressionable years. As to the third year, we will examine some old topics to see if there are some new findings. Topics such as personality, political support, and political tolerance will be included for further analysis.
