The aim of the project is to analyze the connection between climate change with the increasing number of natural disasters and explore the response of the Taiwanese Armed Force to these disasters.
As a case study, the project uses several natural disasters that took place in three Asia-Pacific countries - Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami (Japan), and Typhoon Morakot and September 21st earthquake (Taiwan). To analyze the processes of disaster relief, the Taiwanese security sector is compared with the examples of the Philippines and Japan.
The research contains a section devoted directly to the increased percentage of natural disasters on earth from a scientific point of view, three chapters whose content is aimed at analyzing the activities of the armed forces in the process of disaster relief in the countries mentioned above, and a final section summarizing the facts revealed during the study.
