    Abstract: The lubricant market is a crucial component of the broader manufacturing sector. The present study comprises an analysis of Company K, an industrial lubricant distributor located in Taipei. The firm was founded three decades ago, and is primarily focused on the cement, recycling and excavating sectors. The firm’s strategy is to offer affordable prices, product quality and customer service.
    The highly competitive market has forced the family-fun Company K to consider transformation in business operation. The Porter’s Five Forces model and SWOT analysis are conducted to examine Company K’s market position, and assess how Company K can optimize its operation.
    The result shows that though the sales are stable in engine lubricant sector, there is little room for growth because the market is saturated. However, there is potential to increase sales in the food-grade lubricant sector. The results suggest the possible optimization plans that Company K could make to enable them to stay competitive in the market and to response to customers’ need.
