    Abstract: 台灣的ATM密度為全世界數一數二的,且ATM的交易次數和交易金額也是逐年的攀高,但近年來非現金支付方式的出現,為ATM帶來了巨大的考驗,且ATM雖然能為銀行節省人力成本,其背後之運作成本也不低,因此本文欲研究屬於金融創新產物之一的自動櫃員機(Automated Teller Machine,ATM)對本國銀行經營效率之影響。採用Time-varying的隨機邊界分析法,生產函數設為Cobb-Douglas和Translog兩種模型,以銀行獲利和ATM交易情況衡量產出,ATM、流通金融卡、資產、分行和員工數作為投入,並控制總體環境與金融海嘯的時間虛擬變數,估計2006年第1季至2020年第4季台灣30家銀行的經營效率。綜合兩模型的實證結果,ATM可以為銀行帶來益處,能增加銀行的營收和稅前盈餘,也能使ATM的交易增加,為銀行帶來額外的收入。但隨著時間,有愈來愈技術無效率的趨勢,且從整體銀行的平均效率來看,銀行在運用投入的分配上仍有很大的改善目標,而擁有較多ATM的前幾家銀行在效率排名之間也有不小的差異,所以各家銀行需明白自家ATM在銀行業和使用者中的地位,以提升經營效率。
