Management is an endless process full of challenge and reward. Complacency is a good virtue in most aspects of life. But complacency has no place in managing manufacturing process. It is a continual quest to perform better than yesterday.

This thesis tells a story in case study format and takes readers through the course of change as a leading hand tool manufacturing company with over fifty years of production experience initiates transition from traditional production to lean production. The author wishes to share with readers and managers who may be contemplating similar changes a glimpse of what could be involved in the process of in-house transformation.

A seeming routine event that occurs every year triggered an event that led the company to an overdue production transformation. By always finding the positive aspect of every experience, being a cheerleader when teammates struggle, the end result of restructuring was satisfying. Change is good, change is necessary; change ought to be embraced.
