    Abstract: 圖書館是一個成長的有機體,所以圖書館應隨著新科技、新潮流而隨時調整。館員也必須有新的思維,新的思考模式。隨著網路的蓬勃發展、電腦科技的日新月異,讀者的要求更形多元化及複雜化,圖書館工作人員唯有不斷的充實新知,學習新技能,方能滿足讀者的需求,進而提升服務的品質。繼續教育的意義與重要性已「著毋庸議」,當務之急,在具體的做法與評量的指標,本文試著由國內外文獻探討呈現近年來圖書館界同道對這個議題的努力,接著從沙克曲線、斷續式的平衡和全面品質管理等觀念說明網路時代大學圖書館員應有的教育與訓練。
    Library is a growing organism. Facing the information technology evolution, academic librarians must adopt new strategies and educate themselves through reengineering the work process in order to cope with the latest development of information technology and to provide better quality services for their readers. This paper used the Punctuated Equilibrium Theory and Total Quality Management to illustrate the ideas of continuing education.
