This study adapts Victor Turner’s traditional pilgrimage theory to discuss the practices and the challenges of Taiwan’s Catholic Youth. Through the in-depth interviews and participatory observations, this study explores the family factors that affect the Youth’s religious beliefs in the separation phase, the Youth’s experience, communication and understanding during the pilgrimage in the phase of liminality, and the identification and transformation of the Youth in the phase of aggregation. The impact on the youth beliefs is divided into three conversion results : strengthening the belief experience, maintaining the stability of the faith, and leaving the group with disappointment. The finding of this study provides some reflection and understanding about the pilgrimage and some related institutions suggestions. |
