    Abstract: 本文探討「大學圖書館是大學的心臟」這句老隱喻,共收集了230位大學生對大學圖書館重要性的看法,結果顯示,圖書館在大學教育中扮演中心性角色。而對未來大學圖書館之新概念是閘道圖書館,「大學圖書館是資訊的閘道」是更有意義的新比喻。
    Rethinking about the one-hundred-year-old metaphor for the library, ”The library is the heart of the university,” this study collected the viewpoints of 230 undergraduate students, who all believed that the library plays a crucial part in the university education. To the university library, ”gateway library” stands as a new goal and concept. ”The library is a gateway to information,” based upon the students` responses, seems to be a more meaningful metaphor.
