Abstract:	本文探討Patrick Wilson所提出之資訊檢索五大基本概念──「資訊」、「關於」、「相關」、「需求」和「用途」。因為無法找出公認一致的定義描述上述概念，很難完全解決其所產生的諸多不便與混亂，然而對上述概念的部分釐清，還是能使學者和從業人員站在較為一致的立足點討論有關資訊檢索的研究。 This article discusses the five fundamental concepts of information retrieval addressed by Patrick Wilson- informatin, about, relevance, need and use. Although it is impossible to reach consensus definitions for the above concepts, it can be quite helpful for future discussions in information retrieval researches.
