    Abstract: 本文旨在說明「意見轉變」的兩種研究取徑:「失諧律」與「功能律」。「失諧律」假定人性會追求特定信仰,此外,人們的態度與行為之間是一致的,這些態度與行為也會與環境相互協調。因此,當人們的理性與感情觀點發生了失諧,或不同態度出現了失諧,他們會直接或間接地轉變自身態度來尋求協調。「功能律」則假定人們的態度具四種功能:(1)工具性功能:人類會爭取外在環境之最高收穫,並減少其損傷;(2)知識功能:人類會追求知識,以便對這個混亂世界賦予意義;(3)價值表現功能:態度能說明人們的中心價值以及他是怎樣的人(4)自我保衛功能:當人們承認自己的基本真相或面對外界的苛刻現實時,會進行自我防衛,以避免認知失諧。
