Abstract: Definitions of creativity have evolved from the unidimensional to the multidimensional plane and from factors related to personal characteristics to those concerning social milieus. In addition, research paradigms of creativity have shifted from a mystical approach to a cognitive neuroscience approach. Definitions based on the current consensus and development of research approaches are briefly reviewed. Creative processes have emerged as the most fascinating complexity of creativity. Insights, emotions, and working memory, which are crucial to cognitive processes of creativity, are analyzed based on the cognitive approach, the creative cognition approach, and the cognitive neuroscience approach.
