SIP, the session initiation protocol, is a new signaling protocol developed to set up, modify, and tear down voice session over the Internet. In this paper, we present a SIP-based alarm-giving system named SIP-AG. On detecting network abnormality, SIP-AG can make a phone call to the on-duty administrator, and play the pre-recorded warning message in the call. We implement the SIP-AG in Asterisk, and give the alarm-giving overhead, as well.
