摘要: The crisis in Ukraine began in November, 2013 when pro-Moscow President Viktor Yanukovich abandoned a deal with the EU in favor of stronger ties with Russia. Protests erupted in the capital Kiev and quickly escalated as government buildings were seized in cities across the western regions of Ukraine. On 20 February, 2014 several people were killed in demonstrations in Kiev. Parliament voted to dismiss Viktor Yanukovich and sets early election for May 25. Parliament of Crimea region voted to join Russia and called a referendum. On 16 march, 96.77% of voters backed the proposal to join Russia. On 21 March, 2014, Crimea became part of Russia. Pro-Russian sentiment is strong in eastern regions such as Donetsk and Luhansk. The EU condemned the annexation of Crimea and imposed sanctions on Russia. This paper analyzes views on Ukraine crisis and actions among EU, US and China. Due to geopolitical factors such as close geographic proximity and the transition route of natural gas pipeline, EU pays close attention to what’s appened in Ukraine. When viewed from a geopolitical perspective, Moscow’s opposition to the Ukraine’s entry into NATO can be readily explained. Besides, United States plays the most important role in NATO. Therefore, American perspective on the crisis in Ukraine is discussed in the article. China is a rising power in the international arena. This paper attempts to examine China’s view on conflict over Ukraine.
