    Title:

What is culture? Chinese culture is profound and inclusive. What is the representation of Chinese culture? Why should we revive Chinese culture? What is the connection between the revival of Chinese culture and the cross-strait relationship? What are the specific goals, methods and processes of this cultural revival? This paper examines certain historical events such as the May Fourth Movement, the New Life Movement, the Cultural Revolution where both sides possessed political motives following the cross-strait partition of government, and the Cultural Renaissance Movement. The main points are summarized and it is also suggested that the two sides return to the way of “Moderation,” the doctrine of the Chinese culture and develop the virtues of “respect, humility, and harmony”. Lastly, this article recommends both sides incorporate the wisdom of “impartiality”, a moderate mentality in order to develop a cross-strait, experimental region, preparing for a peaceful reunification in the future. To promote traditional Chinese culture, we recommend taking the younger generations’ desire for novelty and change into consideration and advocate the freshness of tradition to attract young people. The subjective feelings of learners should also be valued. The government cannot do nothing about cultural renaissance, nor can they indulge in practicing political influence without limits. The way of “Moderation” advocates “not too much, not too less,” which is the best choice.
