    Authors:
    Contributors:

Studies of firm’s innovation ability have gradually transferred their attentions from industrial region,
innovation atmosphere, agglomeration economy, and regional innovation system to network analysis.
Network perspective has been adopted to address the process of knowledge transfer and the direction of
information flows. However, we know little about a dynamic view of this knowledge transfer and its
consequences. This study hence aims to introduce signaling theory to securitize network evolution and its influences on the innovation performance of the firm. Longitudinal data of Taiwanese ICT and biotechnology firms will be used for empirical testing in this study. By combining social network analysis and geographical information system, this study plans to extend existing studies of signaling theory to address spatial network and innovation of firms. Specifically, this study aims to examine alliance formation, network evolution, and innovation performance of firms by signaling theory, and, based on its empirical results, propose some policy suggestions that may assist building regional system and information transferring mechanism.
