Abstract:	儒墨二家在先秦時期，並稱顯學。儒家已成中國文化主流大宗，對社會、政治、倫理、教育等影響均極大；惟墨家，經秦漢即消聲匿跡，以迄清季，始復有人起而研究。為瞭解兩家盛衰關鍵，及墨子之教育思想，是為撰述本文之動機。本文先探討墨子之生略，進而研究墨子之主要思想：兼愛、非攻、節用（含非樂、節葬）可併之為利他或共利之功利主義；為維持社會秩序，而有建立社會、政治體系之觀念，及重視「一義」－統一思想，其中心思想，可歸之天志、尚同、尚賢之威權主義思想。墨子的根本觀念，則為兼愛。由功利與威權主義出發，其教育目的在培養「兼以易別」之仁人君子；教學科目為五藝（禮、射、御、書、數）及自然科學、理則學、經濟學等。教學方法，依其知識理論，則為重視外在經驗印證之直觀教學，注重步驟、層次，強調學習者之主動學習，以及教學環境之布置。訓育方法採外在誘因之獎懲辦法，以期變化氣質，惟稍帶迷信神秘色彩。
