    Title: Carnival As Symbolic Inversion and Transgression in Cat`s Cradle

    Abstract: 本論文主要是將俄國批評家巴赫汀(Bakhtin)的理論融入「新歷史主義」(New Historicism)、「意識形態」(Ideology)及福寇(Foucault)的理論,以解讀當代美國小說家馮內果的小說《貓的搖籃》(Cat`s Cradle)。在形式上,作者力求與「正統」文學敘述(如十九世紀的寫實主義或是二十世紀初期的現代主義作品)背道而馳;在語言上,作者企圖推翻、破壞文學語言的常規(code)。本論文將馮內果的作品歸納在「嘉年華」(carnival)式的笑鬧傳統,主要是凸顯較鮮為人注意的特色。透過巴赫汀的「嘉年華」理論分析,我們可以清楚的了解馮內果的語言意識形態及修辭技巧。
