    Abstract: 在民主社會中,選舉制度是影響政黨多寡的一個重要因素。運用理性選擇論,我們可以看出,在扣掉文化分歧的因素之後,單一選區相對多數決法會造成兩黨制,可以說是必然的,這是政治學中少有的普遍性法則之例。其他選舉制度(包括我國所用之單記非讓渡投票法)都或多或少傾向多黨制,但非必然,要視選民偏好的結構而定。現有的經驗資料可佐證這個看法。
