This article analyzed the transformation of the journalistic field in Taiwan by using Bourdieu’s field theory as the foundation. According to the filed theory, the journalistic field can be presented in terms of its economic and cultural capital and it is part of the cultural production field with its own internal logics and rules. The impetus of the development regarding the journalistic field in Taiwan not only comes from the pillaging cultural and economic capital, it is as well coming from the struggling of the symbolic capital between the established and newcomers. This study found that the dilemma of the press in Taiwan is not entangled with political and economic pressure, but comes from the lack of historical consciousness and collective reflection of their self-situation.
