Mass Media construct realities and besides, they are the bases of people to sense the objective world. This theory, so called "constructivist communication theory", derived long time ago. The scholars used to discriminate three realities, ie. Objective, media, and subjective reality, and then via comparison among them concentrate on how mass media construct objective reality. However, this made individual subjective reality can`t concur with objective reality. The objective reality, then, becomes the "truest" one of the three realities and something out of individual and it could suffice itself. Consequently, the theory follows Positivism again. This article attempts to trace Phenomenological Sociology of Schutz and Berger, who were the two ancestors of constructivism; hence amend the difficulty of the theory. In addition, based on constructivism, this article offers an approach to study the relationship between TV and social reality by means of discourse analysis. |
