The study, based on social learning theory, social reality construcation theory and cultivation analysis, intended to investigate the violent content of TV news in Taiwan, and its effects on children`s perception and attitude to social reality. Besides, taking "violent crime" for example, this study compared the differences between symbolic, objective and subjective realities. The results showed, TV news viewing behavior didn`t have obvious effects on children`s perception, but on their attitudes, including approval of violence and interpersonal trust. Within all the variables of TV viewing behavior, the amount of exposure had not significant relationship with cultivation effect as the perceived realism to TV news did.
